01My World, Your World

Consider the act of "communicating" with someone next to you. Experience various workshops based on diverse perspectives, such as touch exploration, auditory/visual language, conversation, and cultural differences, while deepening mutual understanding through trial and error. Research and practices from Europe, including concepts of "my world" and "different worlds," will also be presented in an exhibition.

02What Does "Touching" Mean?

It is said that 80% of the information people receive is visual, but how do visually impaired individuals understand and express objects and spaces? Based on the history of art education, participants will experience a workshop where they touch tactile maps and objects while blindfolded, reevaluating their sense of touch. There will also be an exhibition of Rakugo picture books, such as "Manju Kowai," which participants can listen to and touch.

03Introduction to the Deaflympics (Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau Of Citizens, Culture And Sports International Sports Division)

The Deaflympics is an international multi-sport event for deaf athletes, held every four years and organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf. The Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics will mark the 100th anniversary of the event and will be held in Japan for the first time. There will be exhibits about the Deaflympics, including a monument to the official Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics mascot "Yurito," interactive sport experiences, and displays highlighting visual communication aids like international sign language.
04Convey and Connect! Plain Japanese (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation “TSUNAGARI”)

"Plain Japanese" refers to simplified Japanese, made easier to understand by adjusting grammar, vocabulary level, and sentence length. Originally developed as a communication tool for providing information to foreigners, "Plain Japanese" has also gained attention as an effective communication tool for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Exhibitions and workshops will be held on "Plain Japanese," aiming for barrier-free linguistic and emotional communication.
05Inter-Lingual Escape Game: "CAN YOU HELP THE ANDROID?"
- Puzzle-solving Game
Participants will solve puzzles using communication methods such as sign language, gestures, and written notes in the "Inter-lingual Escape Game." This installment features a story where participants learn and use International Sign while working together to save an android. The goal is to solve the puzzles and complete the mission within the time limit.
**Target Audience:** Hearing individuals who use spoken Japanese but are either unfamiliar with or beginners in Japanese Sign Language/International Sign. For 4th graders and up.

06Tokyo University of the Arts: Collaborative Hub for Creating an "Inclusive Society" through Art Communication

An art communication project aiming to create an "inclusive society where no one is isolated," through collaboration between art and diverse fields like welfare and technology. The project will present initiatives collaborating with 40 institutions in the fields of art, welfare, healthcare, and technology, trying to implement "cultural prescriptions" in society.

A workshop where participants can experience "Plain Japanese," which is regarded as a common language in multicultural and inclusive societies. "Plain Japanese" refers to simplified Japanese, made easier to understand by rephrasing complex terms. It has gained attention as a communication tool that can be used with non-native Japanese speakers, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. In this workshop, participants will enjoy activities with individuals from overseas while learning techniques for communicating information clearly and simply.

"Art Communication for Creating an Inclusive Society" is a project first undertaken by the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023. In collaboration with 40 institutions in the fields of art, welfare, healthcare, and technology, the project is attempting to implement "cultural prescriptions" to create connections between people in society. The project will reveal its efforts and innovations, from team management to how it expands into society.
